2026 Chevrolet Trax vs Trailblazer: Which One Belongs in Your Driveway!
Choosing between two Chevrolet SUVs can be a little confusing at first. The 2026 Chevrolet Trax and 2026 Chevrolet Trailblazer are both designed for everyday driving, family trips, and busy city life, while offering modern technology, useful cargo room, and a comfortable cabin. However, there are clear differences in their engines, fuel use, space, and features. For drivers in Hamilton and nearby communities, the Trax can be especially appealing when easy daily driving and efficiency are important, while the Trailblazer can make more sense when extra power and All Wheel Drive are wanted.
Performance and Efficiency
The 2026 Chevrolet Trax is powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It produces 137 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque and uses Front Wheel Drive, keeping the setup simple while supporting efficient everyday driving. The Trax is rated at 8.5 L/100 km in the city and 7.6 L/100 km on the highway, while its 50 litre fuel tank is well suited to regular commuting around Hamilton and longer drives throughout the surrounding area. The Trailblazer uses a larger 1.3-litre turbo engine with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It produces 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque, with All Wheel Drive included. Fuel economy is rated at 9.1 L/100 km in the city and 8.1 L/100 km on the highway. The extra power and All Wheel Drive give the Trailblazer an advantage when more traction and strength are wanted, but the Trax stands out for its lower fuel use and straightforward everyday performance.
Seating Capacity and Cargo Space
Both Chevrolet SUVs can carry five people, making either one a practical choice for a small family or a group of friends. The Trax provides 2,826 Litres of passenger volume, while the Trailblazer also gives passengers useful room for daily trips. When cargo space is needed, the Trax offers 725 L behind the second row and up to 1,532 Litres when the rear seats are folded. A 60/40 split folding rear seat is included, allowing the cabin to be adapted when larger items need to be carried. The Trailblazer offers 716 Litres behind the second row and 1,540 Litres with the rear seats folded. This gives it a small advantage when maximum cargo room is needed, while the Trax provides slightly more space behind the second row. For regular shopping, school runs, work bags, and weekend gear, both SUVs provide useful flexibility.
Technology and Comfort
Technology is designed to be easy to use in both models. The Trax comes with an 11.0-inch HD colour touchscreen and a 6-speaker audio system, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto for convenient smartphone connectivity. USB ports and Wi Fi hotspot capability are also included. Keyless Open, Keyless Start, remote keyless entry, remote start, power door locks, and power windows add useful convenience. Heated front seats and a heated steering wheel are also included in the Trax configuration used here. The Trailblazer also offers an 11.0-inch touchscreen, a 6-speaker audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto. Keyless Start and other useful cabin features are also included. For Canadian winters, the Trax feels particularly well prepared with its heated front seats, heated steering wheel, heated mirrors, and rear window defogger.
Safety Features
Both SUVs come with a good range of driver assistance features. The Trax includes Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Park Assist, and an HD Rear Vision Camera. Following Distance Indicator, Teen Driver, Tire Pressure Monitoring, and StabiliTrak are also included. These features can be useful when driving through busy Hamilton streets, parking in crowded areas, or dealing with changing road conditions during an Ontario winter. The Trailblazer also provides important features such as Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, Front Pedestrian Braking, Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Park Assist, and an HD Rear Vision Camera. Both vehicles perform strongly in this area.
